What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are transferred to your device when you visit websites. They are used to store data about you and your preferences so that upon re-visiting those websites, the web server does not have to repeatedly request the same information. Cookies make it easier for website providers to personalize your experience and streamline your interaction with websites, potentially eliminating needless steps and improving your overall online experience.

Cookies that expire at the end of a browser session are called ‘session cookies’.  Cookies that are stored for longer are called ‘persistent cookies’.

Other Tracking Technologies

In addition to cookies, we use other similar technologies to track users of our services and visitors to our Website. Examples of these technologies include:

Web Beacons: Web beacons (also known as pixels and clear GIFs) are small graphic images that are invisibly embedded on web pages (rather than on a browsing device) and are used to track user movements and identify user behavior.

Flash Cookies: Flash cookies (also known as a Local Shared Object or an LSO) are text files that are stored on your browsing device when you visit a website that runs a Flash application. Flash cookies function in a similar manner to regular browsing cookies and are intended to personalize a user’s online experience.

How We Use Cookies

Whether a cookie is a first or third party cookie depends on which website the cookie comes from.  First party cookies are those set by or on behalf of the website visited.  All other cookies are third party cookies.  We use both first party and third party cookies.

Cookies related to functionality are used to remember your authentication status, your user preferences and other customized settings. For example, so you can utilize “Remember Me” features on our Websites or configure your settings to store your payment information for faster booking.
